weezing sound

Postby jrjan1 on Wed Mar 21, 2007 5:50 am

My cat is 15 years old and I noticed it started weezing when it breathes lately. He seems healthy otherwise, eating and drinking normally and acting normal. My husband said it was just getting old and I shouldn't worry about it. He doesn't feel we should take it to the vet and spend a lot of money when it's main problem is age. He doesn't act like he's in pain or anything, but I don't want him to be suffering if penicillin or something would help him. What should I do? :(
Thank you.

Follow your gut instinct. Take him to the vet. You don't want your cat to suffer and it could be something easily treatable. On the other hand, if it's something serious you would want to know that, too. As far as the cost which is a necessary part of taking good care of your pet, your vet should apprise you of any potential costs for treatments. Then you can make the decision of which route you want to go. Good luck.

It could be feline asthma. My cat developed it when he was about 4 years old.
